Retaining Wall Construction
(916) 502-9270
For those who are not familiar with retaining walls, these are walls that are designed to hold earth or certain substances. These kinds of walls can be found in the garden, where you can find the vegetables growing in the soil behind a stone retaining wall; or you can find a reservoir of water behind a retaining wall for a swimming pool. Here is how our company will work with you to create the ultimate retaining wall. First, we will help you come up with a design plan for your retaining wall. What features such as material, body construction and dimensions will all be discussed with you. This part is important because some retaining walls are more suitable for different purposes. For example, if you are wishing to hold a reservoir of water, you would want to construct a concrete retaining wall instead of a brick wall. Concrete walls tend to be stronger than brick and mortar walls. Our company will also go through the other various aspects of building the retaining wall for you. Things such as making sure that the retaining wall meets building codes, labor needed to build the retaining wall, checking the ground conditions and soil characteristics for foundation building etc. Then, the retaining wall will be constructed. Please note that different retaining walls will require different processes to construct the wall. For example, for a concrete wall, the ground will have to be dug up, fill the dug up trench with fill, forms constructed to meet the dimensions required for the wall, put mesh in the form and then pour the concrete mixture into the form to create the wall. |
Brick/Mortar Wall Construction
(916) 502-9270
Brick walls are one of the simplest appearing wall constructions, but one of the most difficult to make. That is because when it comes to putting bricks together using cement mixture, you have to be careful of not creating a leaning tower of bricks. Otherwise, your brick wall will fall over. When it comes to constructing brick/mortar walls, we are experts at doing that kind of construction. Here is how we will construct the wall for you. First of all, we have to get the dimensions of the wall right. This is a matter of measuring the distances between two points that you want the wall to be built on. Along with that, we will also help you with brick/mortar selection. This is a matter of personal choice. You can select bricks based on cost, color, the size of the cavity etc. Whichever brick type you choose; we can get it for you. Then comes the fun part – the construction of the brick wall itself. The concrete mixture that is used to pile the bricks onto each other is made of sand and cement which is mixed together. Generally, the brick wall is constructed using pegs to ensure that the brick wall is constructed in a perfectly vertical formation. Our laborers will use the pegs, along with the string, to plaster the concrete mixture and the brick itself onto the other bricks on the wall formation. Overall, once the construction is done, you will get a brick wall which looks magnificent; no matter which type of brick that you use. |
Stone Wall Construction
(916) 502-9270
When creating stone walls, it is important to note that stone walls are not brick walls. The mortar used to create the stone wall varies in terms of shape. You can use small stones or big stones to construct the vertical structure. Whereas with brick walls, you have to use the same shape to construct the wall.
The main difference as well, along with the shape of the mortar used to create the wall, is the relative cost. Stone walls can be relatively cheaper than brick walls, depending on the material that you are using. You could, for example, use broken bricks from a destroyed property to create the stone wall. Or you could get some large stone bricks and break them into various pieces to create the stone wall that you want. Either way, stone walls are made from natural materials, bricks tend to be man-made; hence the cost difference.
Overall, though, the construction of the stone wall is not that much different than constructing the brick wall. First, the footing has to be created, where gravel and concrete mixture is placed along with a row of large stones to create the foundation. Then the stones are built on top of one another with joints being filled with the cement mixture.
One of the things about building a stone wall which is different to a brick wall is that there is a lot more repositioning of the stone that is required. Our construction laborers will cut the stone in pieces to ensure that the stones fit perfectly into the wall structure. Otherwise, it will be difficult to create the wall in a perfect shape.
Of course, when we build the stone wall for you, the stone wall will have to be straight vertically and meet building requirements.
