Five Steps to a Stone Walkway

1. Once you have the materials you will be using for a new walkway, it's crucial to lay out exactly the configuration you desire with all stones, blocks, granite, travertine, quartzite, sandstone, mudstone, etc. aligned perfectly. It may take a bit of time to perfectly arrange all the materials into a natural looking pattern, but it must be done.
2. After the pattern has been laid out for your new walkway, the next step is to set all the stones up to be placed in the ground. This is done through cutting and taking apart all the grass around the area, the material will be laid.
3. Upon the stones being placed in the ground, use a small rubber mallet to pound the stone material into the gravel. Depending on the materials depth you will need to adjust accordingly. It may be challenging to gauge this step accurately, which is why we advise hiring the best masonry contractor to handle the project.
4. Implementing a cobblestone border trim is the next step. For some projects, cobblestone borders aren’t as effective or convenient. Dip a small trench about the size of a hand deep and wide. After the small trench is created pour the cement mix desired by customer. Masonry contractors will know what to do if it is challenging for you. 
5. The final step is to replace the previously grass ripped out around the stones in the ground. After the mix has dried and the stones are in place, using the grass thrown to the side to fill joints and cracks of the pathway is the last thing to do. After washing off the stone tops with water to get rid of any unwanted waste or debris the water will help stabilize the replaced grass.
