Steps
1. Excavation
With a spade the area for construction is marked and grass uprooted. It is important to check any underground structures before making any excavation. A wood frame can be used to mark the area together with garden stakes. A garden hoe is used to dig into the desirable depth. After digging the concrete pad area, the wooden frame is removed but the stakes left in place.
2. Add crushed stones
Crushed stones of up to 4 inches high are laid at the bottom and compressed using a roller or any other compactor.
3. Mix and pour concrete for the pad.
To calculate how much concrete is required, a concrete pad calculator comes in handy. Mixing can be done by hands or machine. Then the mixture is poured into the first layer and a board used to compress it. It is leveled so that it remains parallel to the surface.
4. Finishing and sealing
A float is used to make the concrete surface smooth. A concrete edger helps to make finished edges. Then suitable concrete sealer is applied after the pad cures. The wooden frame is taken off after this last step.
To protect the concrete pad from adverse weather, a plastic sheet is placed on top until the concrete hardens. If you prefer decorative designs, our contractors can improve the basic pads according to your taste. Reach out to us through (916) 502-9270 for a free quote.
